North West 200

North West 200

The North West 200 is a motorsport event established in 1929 for racing motorcycles on closed public roads. The races are held on a 8.970 mile street circuit known as the “Triangle” between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush in the Causeway Coast and Glens.

Each year, the event attracts the best international road racers in the world and thousands of motorsport fans flock to the area for the thrill of high speed motorcycle action.

Benone Getaways is located in between two of the famous filming locations in Game of Thrones.

Binevenagh Mountain: The plateau and steep cliffs extend for over six miles across the peninsula of Magilligan, dominating the skyline over the villages of Bellarena, Downhill, Castlerock and Benone beach.

Downhill Beach: In Game of Thrones, Downhill Beach appeared in season two when Stannis Baratheon rejects the Seven Gods of Westeros and allows Melisandre to burn their effigies as an offering to the Lord of Light.

Northern Ireland’s biggest and most successful sporting event, the 148th Open Championship, was staged at Royal Portrush Golf Club in July 2019.

The winner, Shane Lowry, had an amazing journey to lift the famous Claret Jug, while fellow Irish major champions Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke, Graeme McDowell relished playing in front of a home crowd.
